How do I get an ACT fee waiver?
My school ran out of ACT fee waivers, and I want to take the April ACT test. I can't pay out of pocket the $30 test fee, and I really need to take the test because the next test date will be for when I am a senior. I want to send out my applications for colleges early next year, and I'll have to put that off to wait to take the ACT and get back my scores. Does anyone know how I can get an ACT fee waiver outside of school? I checked the website, and I cannot directly ask the ACT company for a fee waiver, so I need to know if there is another option. Thanks for any help.

- Thats weird, if your school ran out, shouldnt they get more because they are creating a major disadvantage for their low income students? Have you asked if they can get more? Or is it a limited amount available? I tried looking up the same thing on ACt and i didnt find anything except that Colorado, Illinois, and Tennessee have state vouchers... 1. Ok, the first thing I would do is ask your school's guidance counselor to order more slips if they can get more 2. If they cant order more, ask your guidance counselor where they get them from and ask for a phone number, office location, etc. Then contact those people. 3. If the guidance counselor cant do that, then you need to explain your situation to them and that they need to help you figure out a way to get that waiver! If not they are making it difficult for their low income students to get a further education, and usually they want the opposite of that! Perhaps you could get one from another school somehow?? 4. If everything you ask is shot down, find someone to borrow $30 from : / or get a fee waiver for the SAT and take that right now instead... then next time the waivers are available for the ACT take that, so you'll have some score to put on your college applications for right now, then once you have submitted the SAT score, you can always update the ACT score on your applications, and the colleges will like that a lot.
- The school will still have to give you a waiver soon, it's illegal for them not to. Just talk to you Dean and get one. ACT is more important than the SAT.
