Could someone help me review my cover letter and give me a little advice please!?

Please see enclosed my resume in application for the Program Supervisor the Senior Services listed on the Town’s website. I am currently a senior at Southern Connecticut State University majoring in Business Administration. I am eager to obtain a full-time position as a Program Supervisor. I am aware that I do not have a lot of experience; however I have excellent organizational skills, and a strong work ethic. In addition to my extensive retail experience, I have excellent communication skills. I have learned to always maintain a gracious and professional manner when communicating with people, including clients and store staff. My broad experience and range of skills make me a superior candidate for this position. Having been in the United States Marine Corps Reserves for over four years, there is an appreciation for team work and getting the goal accomplished. Being a college student still could be a beneficial asset to the position since I have up-to-date knowledge in the proficiency of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. I am enthusiastic, eager to learn and possess very good inter-personal skills. Based on my experiences and strong commitment to most things I do, I know I will add significant value to your team. I look forward to discussing my capabilities in more detail, and am available for a personal interview at your convenience. I know you are busy, and have many applications to review, so please let me know if you wish to further discuss your requirements and my ability to meet them. Thank you for your time and consideration.

  1. Way too long!! Condense it down to one paragraph. Put your experiences in one section of your resume. First 3 sentences are ok. The rest should be inside on your resume. Use the sentence starting with Based on my experiences.... and the one after that. Drop the I know you are busy sentence. and then in conclusion Thank you for your time and consideration. Keep it short and to the point. Human resources personnel do not like to read your life history in a cover letter. That is why you are sending your resume.
